Volunteer Center seeks summer assistance
The Volunteer Center of Monmouth County needs volunteers for a county social-services agency to assist a family with 3-year-old triplets born with developmental delays. Volunteers are requested to assist the family two to three hours per week.
A Shrewsbury area association that assists the physically challenged needs volunteers two to three hours a day on July 19, 24, or 27 to assist with copying materials of its events. Individuals are also needed to stuff and stamp envelopes on an ongoing basis Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (hours are flexible). Minimum age is 18.
A Red Bank day care center needs volunteers for its yearly carnival in August to help with games, setup and cleanup.
A county environmental agency needs several volunteers for its festival Aug. 18-19 (two, two and a half hour shifts) in Asbury Park. Individuals will monitor handicapped parking and handle other various assignments.
Individuals are needed for a road race sponsored by a local charity on July 31 from 6-8:45 p.m. Volunteers are mainly required at water stops, and minimum age is 18.
A Long Branch nonprofit seeks individuals to help clear and landscape its grounds, as well as some light indoor painting. Volunteers high school-age and older are accepted.

Green Wave to sponsor circus July 30-31
The Green Wave Football Association, Long Branch, will sponsor the L.E. Barnes Three-Ring Circus July 30-31 with performances at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The circus will be held at the Long Branch baseball field on Atlantic Avenue.
Proceeds will benefit the Long Branch High School football team. Because the Green Wave will receive 35 percent on the advanced ticket sales and 10 percent on box office sales, it encourages advance ticket purchases.
Advanced tickets cost $10, $3 for children under age 14. Box office prices are $12, and $5 for children under age 14. L.E. Barnes has also made available "center ring" seating for an additional $2 per person (first come, first served).
The circus will feature a human cannonball, acrobats, clowns, lions, elephants, camels, horses, wire acts, and other entertainment acts for the family.

Eatontown library holds new and used book sale
The Friends of the Eatontown Public Library is sponsoring a new and used book sale today through July 21 at the library, 33 Broad St.
The sale will be held during regular library hours: Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Videos and magazines, as well as children’s and adults books, will be available for purchase.
