Holocaust panel will hold May 7 observance

The Henry Ricklis Holocaust Memorial Committee will hold its "Yom Hashoa Holocaust Commemoration" at 1:30 p.m. on May 7 in the Richard P. Marasco Center for the Performing Arts, Monroe Township High School, Perrineville Road.

The event will include Holocaust accounts by survivors and by committee founder, Henry Ricklis, who was a liberator. Also featured will be Cantor Clair Franco and the children’s choir from Temple B’nai Shalom, East Brunswick.

A Holocaust survivors candle-lighting ceremony will take place from 1-1:30 p.m., prior to the start of the program. This is a change from past practice.

The public is invited to the program, which is jointly sponsored by the Jewish communities of Clearbrook, Concordia, Rossmoor, Whittingham at Greenbriar and The Ponds, all Monroe; the Monroe Township Jewish Center; the Perrineville Jewish Center; the Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County; and the Second Generation Holocaust Survivors of Mid-Jersey.
